Case study 02Atlas Health2024
Atlas Design System
One accessible component library for four patient-facing products — shipped incrementally, without a big-bang rewrite.
The problem
Four products, four button components, and accessibility fixes that had to be made four times. Every new feature started with a debate about which version of a pattern to copy.
Approach
Rather than pause roadmap work for a rewrite, we shipped the system alongside it: tokens first, then the ten most-used components, each adopted product by product behind a thin compatibility layer.
Every component shipped with keyboard, screen-reader and contrast checks baked into its Storybook stories, so accessibility was the default rather than a review step.
